Join the CELT’s 3M National Teaching Fellows Seminar Series, featuring Dr. Kai-Yu Wang, an award-winning educator from Brock University's Goodman School of Business and 3M National Teaching Fellow. Dr. Wang will share a practical, proven framework for designing AI-ready courses, one that blends experiential learning with responsible AI use. From client-based projects to innovative layered assignments, you'll gain strategies and a clear path forward for teaching effectively in an AI-enabled classroom.

New Funding Opportunity: Digitally Enhanced Learning Partnership Grants

The Digitally Enhanced Learning (DEL) Partnership Grants support faculty in developing high-quality, digitally-enhanced learning experiences through sustained collaboration with the Digital Learning (DL) team at CELT.

Registration now open for Learning & Teaching Conference, and IT Conference 2026

Joint registration for this year’s TMU Learning & Teaching Conference and the TMU IT Conference is now open. Details about programming and scheduling will be made available closer to the conference dates. 


Following a successful collaboration in 2025, TMU’s annual Learning and Teaching Conference and IT Conference are partnering once again to explore and strengthen the many points of connection between TMU’s academic teaching and information technology communities.


The Learning and Teaching Conference will occur in-person on TMU’s campus between May 11 and 12. Pre-conference events will be held on May 11, while May 12 will offer a full day of programming including lunch and community building opportunities.


The IT Conference will be held in-person on TMU’s campus on May 13, while May 14 sessions will take place virtually and will include the conference’s cybersecurity track.


Registration will remain open until May 5, 2026 at 5 p.m.

Now Accepting Nominations for the 2026 Academic Assistant Awards

The CELT is pleased to announce the 2026 Academic Assistant (AA) Awards, recognizing exceptional AA who have made a meaningful impact on student learning. We invite you to nominate an AA who has demonstrated excellence in community building, enhancing the student experience, equity and inclusion, and professional development. Each year, up to five prizes of $500 are awarded. 


The nomination package must be submitted to the University Award Nomination Panel by 11:59 p.m. on May 31st, 2026.

Funding Opportunity: CEWIL Canada iHUB 2026 Call for Proposals now open! 

CEWIL Canada's iHUB is now accepting applications for its 2026 grant cycle, offering up to $2,000 per student for work-integrated learning (WIL) projects that improve student access, leverage technology, and strengthen industry partnerships. Round 1 proposals are due March 18, 2026 (project activities: May 1-Dec 31, 2026). A potential Round 2 call may open in May 2026. Apply for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Retreat

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) invites faculty to apply for the inaugural Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Retreat, June 1-2, 2026 (10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), hosted in-person at TMU. This two-day retreat offers dedicated time and structured support to develop, refine, or advance SoTL projects focused on the systematic study of student learning. Participants will engage in expert consultations, guided project development (from ideation to methodology and dissemination), collaborative seminars with SoTL-engaged colleagues, and focused time for independent writing, planning, and analysis. Space is limited!

New Podagogies: Teaching Equity through Critical Hope with Dr. Leanne Taylor

In this episode of Podagogies, Dr. Leanne Taylor shares how she teaches required equity-focused courses in spaces where resistance is real, and learning is sometimes hard-earned. She reflects on how critical hope shapes her approach to course design, assessment, emotional labour, and institutional change. From building classroom community to moving beyond traditional essays, this conversation explores how teaching equity through critical hope means holding space for discomfort, sustaining possibility, and playing the long game of change.
