LTC Registration Deadline: Tuesday, May 5 at 5 p.m.

We’re less than one week away from the registration deadline of May 5 at 5 p.m for the 2026 Learning & Teaching Conference. Make sure to register to join for two days of programming featuring TMU faculty, contract lecturers, staff and graduate students coming together as researchers, educators, creatives, practitioners, and community to share their scholarship, innovations, dilemmas and practices related to learning and teaching.

On top of our annual programming, this year's LTC will also include: 

  • New CELT/OSI Showcase on Day 1 featuring faculty collaborators and CELT and OSI staff co-presenting insights that have been integrated in the classroom and community

  • New YSGPS Symposium on Day 1 with a keynote and panel discussion to help inspire graduate supervisors in fostering more effective and development-focused supervisory practices

  • Day 2 screening of Stories of Unpacking Colonialism: A De-colonizing Journey’s Documentary

Students as Partners in GenAI

Deadline: June 8, 2026, 4 p.m. EST

This is a reminder to apply for the Students as Partners in Generative Artificial Intelligence (SaP-GenAI) program. The program provides small, term-based grants to support student-instructor partnerships in which one instructor and one undergraduate student partner co-design and co-create digital learning innovations that engage with GenAI in ethical and pedagogically meaningful ways. To support applicants, an AI-based SaP-GenAI Grant Guide is available to help explore project ideas and run a proposal readiness check.

Submit your AA Awards Nominations by May 31, 2026

Reminder to submit your nominations for the Academic Assistant (AA) Awards, recognizing exceptional AAs who have made a meaningful impact on student learning. We invite you to nominate an AA who has demonstrated excellence in community building, enhancing the student experience, equity and inclusion, and professional development.


The nomination package must be submitted to the University Award Nomination Panel by 11:59 p.m. on May 31st, 2026.

SoTL Retreat

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) invites faculty to apply for the inaugural Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Retreat on June 1–2, 2026 from 10 a.m–4 p.m. This two-day retreat offers dedicated time and structured support to develop, refine, or advance SoTL projects focused on the systematic study of student learning. Participants will engage in expert consultations, guided project development (from ideation to methodology and dissemination), collaborative seminars with SoTL-engaged colleagues, and focused time for independent writing, planning, and analysis. Space is limited!

We are celebrating high-impact experiential learning (EL) at TMU! 


If you're a staff member, faculty, or contract lecturer involved in designing or facilitating EL, we invite you to share your creative courses and initiatives with us. To express your interest, please fill out the Google Form or use our submission template. 

New DocTalks: Sim in Medical Education with Dr. Gurmeet Lall and Dr. Rajani Vairavanathan

From low to high fidelity simulations, and from task trainers to the latest high-tech mannequins, this episode explores all the learning possibilities in "sim", with particular focus on TMU Med School's Sim Lab. But, the benefits from simulations go far beyond the tools involved. This episode also looks into the pedagogical value of including simulation throughout medical training.

New Turnitin Option: Institutional Repository 

To better protect student privacy and intellectual property, the Institutional Repository setting has been added to Turnitin assignments. This option stores submissions in a secure, TMU-only database and provides a strong balance between maintaining academic integrity and safeguarding student work. For more details see the Turnitin Instructor Guide.

Msko-mjigoodenh Giizhigad | Red Dress Day

Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026

Time: 9 a.m–6 p.m.

Location: SLC, 8th Floor of the Student Learning Centre (SLC) at 341 Yonge St. & Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas)

On May 5, TMU is commemorating Red Dress Day | Msko-mjigoodenh Giizhigad, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), including men, boys, and all Indigenous People. 


The day is designated to honour the memories of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people (including men, boys, and all Indigenous People) across Turtle Island. 


The school is having a Gathering Circle which includes a pipe ceremony and our third annual outdoor Red Dress Exhibit | Msko-mjigoodenh Zhinoomaagewin. The exhibit will be a visible reminder, bringing forth awareness of the targeted gendered and racialized crimes against the Indigenous Peoples.

Hosted by CELT, the Teaching Café is a monthly, in-person drop-in space for faculty and CUPE instructors to connect, share, and learn from one another. Each session offers an informal and supportive environment to discuss teaching challenges, exchange ideas, and hear how colleagues are approaching their courses. Whether you’re looking for practical strategies, new perspectives, or simply a sense of community, the Teaching Café is a chance to engage in meaningful conversation with peers who understand the realities of teaching. Come as you are, no preparation or registration is required.
